"[A] cart breakfast kind of morning..."

Meal: breakfast (Fri 10/22)
From: the breakfast cart around the corner from my office

Location: Lower Manhattan

I woke up late and tired... it was a cart breakfast kind of morning...

Cherry Cheese Pastry

Taste: pretty good since I had had any pastries in a while.
Conclusion: I knew I had a crappy @$$ lunch awaiting me, so I went this route.

Drink: a large coffee with milk and sugar

I decided to try something different...

Laziness = A Cart Breakfast

Meal: breakfast (Wed 10/13)
From: the breakfast cart around the corner from my office
Cost: $2.50

I did not feel like making breakfast this morning, so I went to the breakfast cart. I got what only could be described as a chocolate filled pastry with almonds.

Taste: damn good and sweet.
Conclusion: it adequately satisfied my hunger.

Drink: a large coffee (with milk and sugar)

I woke up a bit later than I planned to, so I had no time to make breakfast, so I went to the breakfast cart again!

Drink: a large coffee with milk and sugar.

The CART!

Meal: breakfast (Thu 10/7)
From: the breakfast cart around the corner from my office
Cost: $2.50
Location: Lower Manhattan

As I headed to work this morning I could feel only one thing, soreness. It emanated from several points, my legs, my back, my shoulders, my arms, my abdominals, my gluteus maximus... I decided several things:
1. I am probably going to take tonight off from the gym;
2. I am going to enjoy the Yankee playoff game at home while I let my muscles rest; and
3. I am going to get something from the breakfast cart for breakfast.

Cherry Filled Cheese Pastry

Taste: nothing to write home about, but it was pretty good.
Conclusion: surprisingly the pastry and coffee combined to fill me up pretty well.

Drink: a large coffee with milk and sugar.

Another Cart Breakfast

Meal: breakfast (Wed 10/6)
From: the breakfast cart around the corner from my office
Cost: $2.25
Location: Lower Manhattan

I decided to try a bialy for breakfast today (with butter). The guy put a lot of butter on it, so i took some of it off before I ate it.

Taste: surprisingly good.
Conclusion: it was good and filling, I might try it again instead of a pastry or bagel.

Drink: what I usually get from the breakfast cart, a large coffee with milk and sugar.

Starbucks Coffee

Drink: coffee (Mon 10/4)
From: Starbucks
Cost: FREE!
Location: Lower Manhattan

So apparently while I was doodling around at court, there was some kind of meeting at my office, that involved one of those large paper containers of Starbucks coffee. Fortunately for me, when I returned to the office, there was still some of that coffee left!

Starbucks Coffee (with Sweet'N Low and milk).

Taste: a nice strong cup of coffee.
Conclusion: a definitely needed boast of caffeine.

Apple "Pie" for Breakfast

Meal: breakfast (Wed 9/29)
From: the breakfast cart around the corner from my office
Cost: $2.50

I did not get much sleep Tuesday evening, so I needed some sugar and caffeine to get me through the day.

I got one of those apple pie/strudel type things from the breakfast cart.

Taste: for some strange reason this piece had adequate apple filling, I was happy.
Conclusion: I was left full and satisfied.

Drink: my usual large coffee with milk and sugar.

Cherry Center Pastry

Meal: breakfast (Fri 9/24)
From: the breakfast card around the corner from my office
Cost: $2.50
Location: Lower Manhattan

Let us just say I did not sleep so well last night, thus I was extremely tired this morning... So I needed a big pick me up... breakfast cart to the rescue!

My Breakfast

Some kind of cherry center pastry. This pastry was BIG and looked good.

Taste: probably a lot of sugar, but that is the point right?
Conclusion: filling and tasty.

Drink: the usual (large coffee with milk and sugar).

Chocolate...

Meal: breakfast (Wed 9/22)
From: the breakfast cart around the corner from my office
Cost: $2.50
Location: Lower Manhattan

Exhausted, this morning I decided I needed a cart breakfast...

Chocolate Croissant
(with a large coffee with milk and sugar)

The chocolate croissant is my good old faithful standby.

Taste: you cannot go wrong with this combo.
Conclusion: it did the trick, I am full and happier than before the meal.

Drink: the usual (a large coffee with milk and sugar).

Another Kind of Pastry

Meal: breakfast (Tue 9/21)
From: the breakfast cart around the corner from my office.
Cost: $2.50
Location: Lower Manhattan

After surviving Monday morning without breakfast, I decided I would not do the same on Tuesday. I went to the usual breakfast cart I go to when I am in need of a fix. I decided I wanted to try something different so I got a pecan covered pastry.

Pecan Covered Pastry
(and a large coffee with milk and sugar)

Taste: the frosting made the pastry, it was good.
Conclusion: a little messy to eat but it was good and filling.

Drink: the usual (large coffee with milk and sugar).

Another Breakfast from the Cart

Meal: breakfast (Fri 9/17)
From: a breakfast cart around the corner from my office
Cost: $2.50
Location: Lower Manhattan

I had a client meeting first thing in the morning and even though I was able to get a solid 7 hours of sleep last night, I still felt like I needed a little pick me up. The breakfast cart was out of cherry cheese pastries and I was not feeling a chocolate croissant today, so I decided to try something different.

Apple Strudel
(and a large coffee with milk and sugar)

Taste: it was really good, but probably not so healthy. Honestly, frosting and flaky buttery pastry dough, how can you go wrong?
Conclusion: my only complaint was there was not enough apple filling, there was an acceptable amount, but I would have like a bit more.

Drink: my usual (a large coffee with milk and sugar).

Preemptive Strike... Against Lack of Sleep!

Meal: breakfast (Wed 9/15)
From: breakfast cart (around the corner from my office)
Cost: $2.50
Location: Lower Manhattan

I got to bed late last night (due to no fault of my own). As a preemptive strike against the inevitable 'rough' next day, I decide to load up with some sugar and caffeine from the usual breakfast cart.

Cherry Cheese Pastry

Taste: nothing different than normal, but always tasty (wish there was more filling).
Conclusion: probably not very healthy, but who cares I plan to lift weights and then run a few miles after work.

Drink: my usual (large coffee with milk and sugar).

I think the breakfast cart I go to changed coffee lids, now there is a bear smiley face on them.

Budget Breakfast (Filling Edition)

Meal: breakfast (Tue 9/14)
From: my fridge
Cost: [to me] FREE!
Location: my kitchen

Yesterday, one granola bar simply was not enough for breakfast. I am on morning dog walking duty these next two weeks, so I was up earlier than usual and had time to scrounge around the fridge for breakfast.

My dog, looking at some food I put on a table.
(NO! I did NOT eat my dog!)

I found a little cream cheese (reduced fat in case anyone cares) left in my fridge as well as an everything bagel. I threw the bagel in the toast (to get ride of the fridge induced moisture of course) then lathered it up with what was left of the cream cheese (leaving me with an empty container).

Toasted Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese
(I think the bagel was Costco)

Taste: the bagel had a nice aroma to it from the toasting. I liked everything on the everything bagel except some weird spice on it, but I got used to its taste after a few bites.
Conclusion: a filling breakfast to give me energy to get to lunch.

Drink: coffee with half & half and Sweet'N Low.
From: my office's communal kitchen
Cost: N/A
Location: Lower Manhattan

Undetermined brand of coffee that was left in the pot this morning at work (made by an intern).

Minimal Sleep = Breakfast Cart Breakfast

I was up late last night, very late. Want to know why? Because I was cleaning out the exhaust duct for the dryer in my house. There was so much accumulated lint, a major fire hazard. In fact, my old drier caught fire (and the first department had to come) a few years back... This morning I was dragging... So I went to my friendly neighborhood breakfast cart to get something to get me through till lunch.

Meal: breakfast (Fri 9/10)
From: breakfast cart near my office
Cost: $2.50
Location: Lower Manhattan

My Breakfast

Cherry Cheese Pastry
It was absolutely delicious (although I was starving so my perception might have been off). I only wish it was (1) bigger and (2) had more cherry filling.

Taste: A number 1 (I must be delirious).
Conclusion: without this breakfast I do not think I would have made it to my 12pm meeting.

Drink: large coffee with milk and sugar.

Remarks: I could have used more coffee and more pastry...

My Fallback Breakfast

I am not sure why, but I was really struggling this morning. Maybe it was the fact that I decided I was going to start running again and ran 2 miles for the second time in a week after not running at all for the last 6 plus years. Or it could be that I did not get to sleep until pretty late. However, the latter probably is not the cause because I usually sleep late (due to no fault of my own). Regardless of the cause, I really needed something to pick me up this morning, so I went with my old standby... the breakfast cart near my office.

Meal: breakfast (Thu 9/9)
From: the cart around the corner from my office
Cost: $2.50
Location: Lower Manhattan

A Chocolate Croissant and a Large Coffee with Milk and Sugar

Nothing special here, just a lot of sugar, caffeine and then some.

Taste: probably not the healthiest combo, so obviously it was good.
Conclusion: I needed a pick me up, this definitely gave me a pick me up, the question is it enough of a pick me up to get me to lunch...

Drink: large coffee with milk and sugar.

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Today is dragging...

Drink: iced coffee
From: Starbucks Coffee
Cost: less than $3.50 (although very expensive)
Location: Lower Manhattan (around the corner from my office)

Starbucks Venti Iced Coffee with Milk
(with 3 packets of Splena and 1 packet of Sugar in the Raw)

Remarks: seriously I was dragging and I needed a pick me up...

Another Morning at the Office...

Meal: cereal bar
From: Costco
Cost: free [for me] (although someone did pay for it)
Location: Brooklyn

Kellogg's Blueberry Nutri-Grain Cereal Bar

Taste: leaves something to be desired.
Conclusion: I am obviously trying to save money. Although, technically I guess this is healthier than a pastry for breakfast.

Drink: more of that "iced" coffee
From: my office's communal fridge
Cost: free
Location: my office's kitchen
Remarks: I survived, it was not bad either...

[Iced] Starbucks Coffee w Half & Half and Sweet'N Low
